During the reign of
Ivar
Ballangrud there were several other Norwegian skaters with international
reputation, among others Hans Engnestangen, Bernt Evensen,
Michael Staksrud and Charles Mathiesen .
Bernt Evensen became World Champion twice in 1927 and 1934 and
Michael Staksrud became World Champion in 1930, 1935 and 1937. Staksrud also
became European Champion 1934 and 1937. Staksrud took part in three Olympic
Games (1928-1936), without really succeeding in any of them. Staksrud died in
1940.
